reviews of DSD music

Use the links above to access reviews of specific deep sky divers CDs.

See below for some review highlights and general feedback from fans and music reviewers etc...

I am always a little wary of publishing positive reviews and comments on our website. I don't want to appear big-headed or self-obsessed. But it is the thing to do I suppose - the accepted and best way to promote your music.

These reviews describe deep sky divers music much more eloquently than I could. So they are a good source of information for the potential CD buyer. And the positive feedback I receive with regard to deep sky divers music provides wonderful justification for having done it in the first place. And the justification to carry on doing it in the future. It is certainly not about the money...! - Jon Short

what they said...

“Sometimes less is more and deep sky divers excel in effortlessly floating minimal masterpieces. Music that relaxes and uplifts simultaneously. The divers have SOUL!”

introspective

“The best relaxation-oriented music on MP3.com, I'd wager. ...Their music is at times truly magical. More than a few of their pieces give me the chills now and again, as I pass through the peaks and valleys they so deftly shape in sound.”

Patrick de Smet – Rodrigues

“I have heard a lot of music in my life, from Classical Indian ragas to Arvo Pärt to Steve Roach (tribal and atmospheric music), and I can tell you this: deep sky diving was and still is one of the most wonderful musical discoveries I have made.”

gods of music
(on DSDtrack RAGING CALM)

“…a perfect example of the marriage of modern synthesis and orchestral ambience. Simply gorgeous!”

the official station for symphonic electronica (mp3.com)
(on DSD track ETERNIA)

“Symphonic Electronica like it was meant to be: short, powerful, symphonic and bombastic. Highly recommended!”

Bill Binkelman, Wind & Wire (on DSD track LAKE OF MENTEITH)

"Simply one of the best new age tracks I’ve heard in years!"

Lloyd Barde – Backroads (on HIGHLANDS & SKYLANDS)

"Obviously, I love your CD. It has incredible depth and craftsmanship, crossing over several categories, and landing in the great music dept."

Steve Compton

I remember visiting your site in the recent past and downloaded the demo of "Falling Sky". Perhaps I have gone loopy, but while at deepskydivers.com today, I couldn't find any more regarding that particular haunting work. "Falling Sky" is far and away the most beautifully awesome tribute to the 9-11 tragedy I've heard. Your music goes straight to my heart. Some music makes you think, some music angry, some sad, happy.. on and on.. Your music makes one "be"... The imagery that is painted upon the canvas of my mind from Falling Sky, Raging Calm, When Heaven Freezes Over, and others is like a musical cinematic classic...each work unique and special. I hope you haven't abandoned this as a project and will release it on upcoming cd.

A friend sent me a stream of your song "Lost Without You" a while ago. I
sort of lost it in my computer for quite a while but recently came across it
again. I think it is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. I
have no clue what CD it might be on, and was wondering if you could help me
with that? Please e mail me and let me know. I love your music.
